What I am finding is at the core of the healing that occurs with KaP (Ketamine assisted Psychotherapy) is that people are learning to trust themselves once again. So much of our mental health ailments relate to insecurity, self-judgment and criticism, feeling out of control of their lives and a sense of not having direction. Once you go through the process of learning about your individual parts ( IFS) that get in the way of your own Truth and Self-understanding, you start to see that the core of healing is the ability to truly know and trust your essential Self as a guide and leader for your life.
As Richard Schwartz, founder of IFS once said, "Ketamine assisted Psychotherapy allows for a deep connection with Self energy. It's like Self juice".
I see it as Truth serum about who you truly are outside of the delusions of the mind and the internalized shame that life layered upon you
Through this work there is a deep connection with your intuitive knowing, an alignment with your clarity and purpose, and acceptance around the ways in which we've been conditioned. This allows for more freedom to really forge your life according to your own beliefs as opposed to what society has decided you should be molded as.
Self Energy in IFS
Self Energy in the context of an Internal Family Systems (IFS) model refers to the core self or the essence of an individual that is characterized by qualities such as calmness, curiosity, compassion, and confidence. In IFS therapy, understanding and nurturing the Self is crucial for healing and integration of various internal parts.
8 Cs of the Self
Calm: The Self is centered and composed, able to maintain a sense of peace amidst chaos.
Curiosity: The Self approaches experiences with an open mind and a desire to understand.
Compassion: The Self embodies empathy and kindness towards oneself and others.
Confidence: The Self possesses a strong sense of self-assurance and trust in one's abilities.
Creativity: The Self expresses itself through innovative thinking and problem-solving.
Clarity: The Self sees situations clearly, without distortion or confusion.
Connectedness: The Self fosters relationships and a sense of belonging with others.
Courage: The Self is willing to face challenges and confront fears with bravery.
Role of Self Energy in IFS
Self Energy plays a pivotal role in the IFS model by:
Facilitating communication between various internal parts.
Helping to unburden and heal wounded parts.
Promoting harmony and balance within the internal system.
Guiding individuals towards self-acceptance and integration.
